Our group has extensive experience with helping clients meet the explosive safety requirements of the U.S. Department of Defense including Defense Explosives Safety Regulation 6055.09 Edition 1 DESR 6055.09M and DoD 4145.26. We have over 30 years of experience providing explosive safety design and guidance for a wide range of clients including large DoD weapons contractors, air bag manufacturers, and small ammunition manufacturers. Our work has included guidance for siting to meet the requirements of the DESR 6055.09M and DoD 4145.26 , design of blast and fragment resistant shields, blast resistant explosive production bays and buildings, and detailed explosive siting analyses to determine blast loads, fragment and debris throw distances, and thermal hazards. We specialize in explosive safety analyses and design for situations where the default required explosive safety distances cannot be met. Our engineers are members of the DoD Explosive Safety Board (DDESB) Science Panel and we have been contracted by the DDESB to develop numerous improved analysis and design tools for blast design and explosive safety.
